Sushi rolls

Makizushi, or sushi rolls, are a classic Japanese dish made by rolling rice and fillings in a sheet of nori (seaweed).
They can be filled with vegetables, pickles, or tofu—making them easy to adapt for a vegan diet.

Ingredients

Instructions 

  1. Cut your favorite vegetables into slices. (*Using various colors of vegetables will make it look beautiful.)
  2. Cut the tofu into slices.
  3. Coat the tofu with potato starch and grill both sides.
  4. Prepare sushi vinegar. (*Mix sugar and vinegar to make sushi vinegar! Mix this with rice.)
  5. Place sushi rice on top of seaweed sheets.
  6. Add the ingredients on top.
  7. Gently roll it up.
  8. After rolling, let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  9. You’re done!
    (*It’s easier to cut after letting it sit for a while ☺️)

Point 

  • Let the sushi rice cool before using—it makes rolling easier and keeps the nori crisp.
  • Use plastic wrap over the bamboo mat for easier rolling and cleanup.
  • Place the fillings in the center and avoid overfilling for a clean, even roll.
  • After rolling, let it sit for a few minutes before slicing to help it hold its shape.
