Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu (about 375g)
- 100g mushrooms or any vegetables (e.g., 50g mushrooms and 1 carrot)
- 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs
- 1-2 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Olive oil or any oil, as needed
Sauce
* 3 tablespoons ketchup
* 3 tablespoons tonkatsu or BBQ sauce
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce
Instructions
- Prepare Tofu
・Cut tofu and rub with salt.
・Let it sit for 15 minutes, then pat dry with paper towels. - Prepare Vegetables
・ Chop mushrooms and carrot finely. Heat a pan and cook the chopped vegetables for a few minutes until they are soft and dry.
・You can also add chopped onion if you like. - Mix Ingredients
・ Mash the tofu in a bowl.
・Add vegetables, breadcrumbs, vegan mayonnaise, and pepper. Mix well.
※Let vegetables cool before mixing. - Form Patties
・Shape the mixture into patties. ※ If the mixture is too wet and doesn’t hold together, add more breadcrumbs. - Cook Patties
・Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
・Cook patties until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
・Lower heat, cover, and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
・Transfer patties to a plate. - Make Sauce
・ In the same pan, mix 2 tablespoons ketchup, 3 tablespoons tonkatsu or BBQ sauce, and 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
・Simmer until the sauce thickens. - Serve
・Put patties on a plate and pour sauce over them. Enjoy!☺️
Point
- Be sure to drain the tofu well! Use firm tofu, not silken tofu
