Teriyaki tofu

Teriyaki tofu is a delicious plant-based dish featuring crispy tofu glazed with a sweet and savory soy-mirin sauce.

Ingredients

For those who like sweet teriyaki, you can also add 1 teaspoon of sugar
Green onions and mayonnaise are optional!
But they make it even more delicious ☺️

Instructions 

  1. Cut tofu into slices about 1.5 cm thick.
  2. Drain excess water.
  3. Using kitchen paper is quicker.
  4. Coat both sides with cornstarch.
  5. Fry in oil until both sides are golden brown.
  6. Pause the heat and add soy sauce and mirin.
  7. Mix well until fully coated, then it’s done!

Point 

  • Press the tofu well to remove excess moisture before cooking—it helps crisp it up.
  • Dust the tofu with cornstarch for a golden crust and better sauce absorption.
  • Lower the heat before adding the sauce to avoid burning.
  • Sear both sides before glazing for maximum flavor and texture.
